Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
We start off with an email or phone conversation on what the student's goals are and what to expect in a typical session. If student wants to proceed, then we schedule a fitness assessment. Due to the nature of the studio, assessments are done differently than traditional gyms. We go over the results of the assessment and recommendations to reaching goals. The next step is a free first session to make sure student and trainer are a good match.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I received my training through WITS in 2011. I have 4 years experience as a trainer. I am also an athlete in cycling. In the past, I have competed in jiu jitsu and marathon running.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
All services are sliding scale. Students get to pick their price range. For personal training, these are the options per hour: $30, 40, and 50.
How did you get started teaching?
A collegue of mine asked if I am interested in training her and helping achieve her fitness goals. My work with her helped me land other clients.
What types of students have you worked with?
My expertise areas are sports conditioning, functional strength, boxing/martial arts based conditioning, and senior fitness.
Also, the type of clients I serve do not like going to traditional gyms or fitness centers.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Ask if the trainer has free or discounted trial sessions. This way you get to know the teacher's teaching style and see if it's a match for you.
