Terrific achievements over many years of embrassing the world of fine arts.
Drawing and Painting are the history of our planet.
Artworks live on, enjoyed by generations.
What I enjoy about the Art works I create is the overwhelming feeling of joy that I was given a gift so wonderful. When I am satified that I have finished a piece and I apply my signiture, my heart fills with a powerful and grateful pride. When teaching, I enjoy the smile from a student that has learned enough from my instructions, in turn I smile also.
My acheivements include numerous blue ribbons. One of these stands out the most. My Grandmother Lois Hart was an incredible oil painter. She, while I was caring for her and my Granfather Chet Hart , prompted me to join the Nevada Fine artist Association. I honored her request and in the first juried art show I was awarded "the Best of Show" ribbon, she wept with pride. My coolest college professor at Mount San Antonio college, Mr. Robert Ronketty knew I wanted to illustrate for Hollywood. One day he said, " James, your natural teacher, give others your gift, you will be remembered, trust me." I realised he was absolutely correct after he gave me permission to go around my class and critique my fellow students. Teaching art to any age is simple, simple because having FUN is the only rule of the arts.

How did you get started teaching?
My teaching began when my gift was strengthened in every aspect of painting and drawing. This strength included, composition, mixing pigments and application of all mediums. Most importantly having the knowlege developed by understanding how crucial each of these aspects contribute to a piece of fine art, From abstact to realism or somewhere in between.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with ages from 5 to 75. Beginners and professionals. Each student has their own beautiful style inside them. I pride myself on finding that style withen them so that they in turn find cinfidence in calling themselves a true artist.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
Recenlty I created a surrealistic piece titled " First Kiss". A blending of pencilsacrylic paints and pastel. My insperation was a photograph my girlfriend took of a fond moment between us, a kiss. A close friend adoured it so much she purchased the piece
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
My advice when seeking a teacher of the fine arts is be completely open and honest about yourself and the desires that drive you from inside. A true teacher will admire these feelings and determine the right and most perfect plan. Each artist, beginer or professional is unique. A teacher learns with each student a new way to mentor. When a student meets a teacher for the first time a mutual bond is a must.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
A student should ask as many questions as he or she wishes. Questions during any learning process are very important. An artists needs can run very deep. So in short, students that ask the most questions are able to reduce their self judgement and just be the artist from inside. Questions equal confidence. Confidence equals FUN!
