How did you get started teaching?
Master Ricardo has been a lifelong martial artist. As a member of the world famous Carlson Gracie Team he has had the opportunity to train with and learn from some of the legends of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. He has been teaching Jiu Jitsu at all levels and has even trained UFC world champions as well as providing classes for kids starting at 3 yrs old.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
One of our kids told a story of how they were being bullied by a classmate at school. He said that although he knew he could've hurt the bully very easily, he remembered what he had learned in class about how to avoid physical confrontation without becoming a victim. He told us that the bully was most likely having a bad day or having some other problem so he chose to talk to him instead. Now they are best friends. We teach more than just physical Jiu Jitsu.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Find a school where you are comfortable. Find a school where don't feel like it is a chore to go and train. Where you feel like you want to train.
