About
Our passion is to help our students achieve their photographic vision. We specialize in Landscape and Travel Photography in the Southwestern Desert and in the Pacific Northwest (Oregon, Washington and British Columbia, Canada). We also teach photography classes through the Extention Program at the University of Nevada at Las Vegas and routinely receive very high marks from our students. We are a husband and wife team, so every student is exposed to multiple ways to achieve their goal. This makes us unique in the in way we teach photography.
We get excited by the success of our students. We see it as our job to help our students acquire new skills, practice using those skills and helping them have the courage to implemant those skills to achieve their creative vision. We will never tell our students what camera, tripod, filtes to use to achieve their goals. Additional information and examples our our work can be found at www.zfrontierphoto.com and/or following us on Facebook at Z Frontier Photography.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
We typically interview our students to learn:
(1) Their goals for the class
(2) Experience they already have in Landscape and Travel photography
(3)Expectations for the training.
(4) Do they have any limitations that might influence the training we provide.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
We have been taking landscape and travel photographs since the 1970's. We have pushed numerous travel articles. We received extensive training from professional photographers. Attended classes at UNLV. We have been teaching photography professionally for 4 years.
Prior to focusing on Photography professionally, we had extensive careers in Environmental Science.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
We provide lessons to groups and individuals. We typically provide 4 to six hours of training. We charge $100/hour for a minimum of 2 hours.
We also teach group lessons. These are priced based on the location and number of people taking the course.
We occssionally offer preset classes that are priced based on the location and type of photography that we are offering.
How did you get started teaching?
We have always taught as part of our privous careers. It was a natural transition to add teaching to photography. We enjoy interacting with students and are genuinely excited to see them succeed.
What types of students have you worked with?
We generally work with students that range in age between 18 and 70. In general, most of our students are 50+.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
We volunteer and teach at the Lincoln County Photo Festival. We have taught a variety of classes at the event and also participated in designing the program and schedule.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Look at our photography! If this is something that you are interested in pursuing then we may be a good fit. We also prefer to teach "in the field". So students that are comfortable being outside in the desert environment, especially at sunrise and sunset will get the most out of working with us.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
What kind of photography they want to learn? We teach Landscape and Travel Photography. We teach using DSLR and on occassion using Smart Phones and Point and Shoot cameras.
