About
I have taught piano for almost ten years starting at 14 years old. Since I started at such a young age, I really grew to have my own unique teaching style and know how to relate with and teach kids specifically. I graduated college with a bachelor's degree in dietetics and a minor in music. In addition to piano, I have studied voice since high school. Music has always been a large part of my life and teaching has been one of the best ways to express my love for it.
One of my favorite parts about teaching is working one on one with people, especially kids. I enjoy the art of teaching and have enjoyed enhancing my ability to teach. I don't think just knowing how to play the piano is enough to be a good teacher. Knowing how to teach and instruct is crucial to being a good teacher and that is something I enjoy most about teaching piano.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
When working with a new student it's very important to me that I build a relationship with them while teaching them the piano. The lesson structure will depend on whether or not that student knows how to play piano or if they are learning it for the first time. Depending on their level of experience will determine how the lessons will follow, but I always start wtih getting to know my student.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I started taking piano lessons when I was 6 years old and played through high school. Throughout high school I took lessons from MSUB's piano professor and took music classes while there. Among them was a piano pedagogy class which has largely helped my piano teaching method and training. I then went on to get a music minor through college while I was getting my degree. I continued to play piano and sing throughout college.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
I charge monthly not weekly at $80/month for weekly half-hour lessons. Depending on the student's skill, sometimes 45 minute lessons are needed and I charge $105/month. If multiple kids are in lessons from the same family discounts can be applied.
How did you get started teaching?
I was taking music classes at my city college in high school, and one of the required classes was piano pedagogy. My professor also encouraged all of her students to teach piano as it enhanced music abilities even more. Due to this I started teaching during high school and ended with over twenty students in my studio before leaving for college in August of 2015.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have mainly worked with kids, my youngest student being 5 years old and my oldest being 17. That being said I have taught adults as well and enjoy teaching all ages.
