Weddings By Neal Photography
About
I am a wedding and event specialist. My area of operation is mostly the Capital Region of New York State, although I have traveled to other areas and states as needed. I have been a professional photographer for over 35 years. I love what I do, interacting with bridal couples, their special ceremonies, their families, guests, other vendors and venue staff. I have a broad knoweldge of most of the wedding and event venues, as well as religious / places of worship in the area, as I have worked in most of them. If you are looking to learn how to shoot weddings and / or events, I can teach you all you need to know to become a success in your chosen profession.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
We meet by phone, face time or in person. Then we talk about equipment, demeanor, clothing and related topics. It all depends on the students needs. Then we progress to posing, special places for background in the area, how to handle crowds, how to work a ceremony and so forth, ending with going on a shoot with me. Of course, it takes several hours to cover all of these topics. If you are interested in only part of this, I can do that too. You tell me what your needs are.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I started out working for / with another studio, receiving some of my training that way. I also took several on-line cources, attended several professional seminars and conferences.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
My service fee is fifty dollars an hour.
How did you get started teaching?
I started teaching as my business grew and I needed shooters to fill my customer's needs. At one time, we were shooting over three hundred weddings and events a year. So, I needed several shooters that could produce the style and quality that I promised my customers.
What types of students have you worked with?
I ahve started with students that had no photographic knoweldge to profficient shooters that wanted to learn weddings.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Meet with them to see if you are a "fit". Will they work with you to meet your needs? Are they patient?
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
You should evaluate your present knoweldge so you really know what you need to study / learn. You don't want to waste your time or your instructor's time going over things you know. You must be willing to break old / bad habbits, if any exist, in order to learn new ways to do things in a professional manor.
