Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
It all depends on the student's needs. Generally I work with children and young folks who have specific needs going into coaching, like preparing sides, a monologue, or self-taping for an audition, as well as post-booking work, where the actor has booked a part, and would like help learning lines, scene work with a partner, or crafting a stand-out performance.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I'm a graduate of NYU Tisch, with training from the Stella Adler Studio, the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in London, and the Stonestreet Film Conservatory. I've also been trained in improv from the UCB. I have training and experience in most forms of acting, including theatre (both classical and contemporary), film, and improvisation. I am also a working professional actor, so I have real experience in the current industry.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
$40 for 1 hour, $75 for 2 hours. $55/hour for partner scenes.
See if you like me! I offer a 1-time trial rate of $30/hour for our first session!
How did you get started teaching?
I have experience teaching children from a young age. At 16, I became a counselor-in-training at a local theatre camp, and was hooked. The next 4 summers, I worked my way from a C-I-T to a counselor, and eventually to assistant to the head of the program at 19. I have experience teaching children ages 8 through high school, and have more recently been helping young college-aged adults with auditioning and getting into acting programs around the city.
What types of students have you worked with?
Students at any stage in their career, but generally ages 8 and up. This includes high school age, and some young adults looking to audition for acting programs.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Shop around! Not all coaches are created equal. Someone with a great client list and lots of bookings is great, but they might not create the right environment for you. Finding a great coach is like finding a great therapist. This is an art, not a science, if you don't feel comfortable with a coach, try someone else!
