I am on the men’s basketball staff at Adelphi University and was previously an assistant coach at SUNY Maritime College in the Bronx. I have coached youth AAU and CYO basketball, and worked summer camps including Hoop Group for the last 10 years. I have personal training certifications from NASM and ACSM as well as an associates degree as a fitness specialist. I specialize in basketball training, individuals, small groups and teams of all levels and age groups.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Varies based on age, skill level and individual goals. Programs are tailored to each individuals needs.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Associates degree as a fitness specialist (bachelors in Psychology), personal training certifications from NASM and ACSM and FMS level 1. I have 5 years experience coaching college basketball, 4 years experience coaching high school basketball and 11 years coaching youth basketball through AAU, CYO, summer camps and training.

Depends on multiple factors including location, length of workout, size of group (individual, partner, small group, team, clinic).
How did you get started teaching?
Natural progression into coaching after a lifetime of playing.
What types of students have you worked with?
All, youth-division 1 players, competitive to recreational, boys and girls.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I took a youth team to Athens, Greece last spring for a week of friendly games and training with the professional teams youth programs. I am very much looking forward to our second trip this Spring.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Finding successful trainers and coaches he’s is easy, make sure they are knowledgeable about the game and training techniques. Not all successful and knowledgeable basketball coaches are good people, make sure you find a trainer/coach who is positive and supportive of your individuals goals.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Define your goals, where you want to be in both the shore term (next 3-6 months) and long term (2-5 years).
