My teaching approach:I am currently a student at Shenandoah Conservatory, studying Jazz Guitar and Music Production. I perform around the Northern Virginia and Washington D.C. area, either solo or with various groups. I love sharing the knowledge I have attained over the years with my students, and my passion for music is evident. I have been playing guitar for about 8 years and have studied many styles of music. My influences are:I have a wide variety of influences from the jazz greats, blues legends, and rock and metal masters.My guitar lessons take place in:The teacher's studio or the student's home. I may also give them a couple exercises to try that I think would show which areas they excel in and which areas need work. Then I would discuss what the student wants out of their lessons and their short/long term goals on the instrument.A guitar lesson with me might entail the following:My lessons vary greatly from student. Lessons are tailored depending on the student's learning style, talent, and aspirations. Generally, the lessons starts with a short warm-up and student will show me what they worked on since the last lesson. Then I will give them new material to work on for the next week. Finally we will wrap things up and likely play together to work on performing.The qualities I look for in an ideal guitar student might include the following:My ideal guitar student would have an endless desire to learn coupled with a work ethic that would allow us to make fast improvements. Some playing experience is preferred, but I also enjoy teaching beginners as well. The most important thing is having a passion for music.
