About
Training and teaching in martial arts is an essential part of my life. I especially have a great attachment to traditional martial arts and continue to train not just as a hobby but as a way of life.
I have trained in the Southern Dragon Style Kung Fu System (Long Ying) from 1984 under teachers such as Master Yip Wing Hong, Grand Master Hong Lau, and Grand Master He Li. Over the years, I have completed the highest system levels, and I am certified and qualified to teach this highly respected traditional martial art.
Training in martial arts is not easy, but the rewards are well worth the struggles you will face. Students who are serious, open-minded, self-motivated, and above all patient can easily navigate their training to a high level.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Martial art training is personalized, and no two students will train and understand the same way. Hence, I need to understand the type of person a new student is and what motivates them before training.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have trained in Dragon Kung in New York City Chinatown beginning in 1984 under Master Yip Wing Hong. I also trained with the Grand Masters Hong Lau and He Li before training exclusively with Grand Master He Li from 1999 till his passing in 2014. I also have training knowledge and experience in white eyebrow, tai chi, kung fu weapons, and Go Ju karate.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
Students can either pay for each class or have the option to make monthly payments at a slightly discounted price.
How did you get started teaching?
I was certified to teach by master Yip in 1977 and Grand Master He Li in 2004.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with young and older students, students who might have physical difficulties, women who would like to learn self-defense, small private groups, and personal one-on-one.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I love being outdoors, so I spend lots of time hiking and camping when the season allows. I train daily and enjoy working with someone from different martial styles.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Consider the type of person you are and be honest when meeting with a teacher. If your goal is combat, then let the teacher know upfront. If your goal is to keep fit and learn forms for health reasons, be upfront.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
The most important thing a student should think through is why they want to learn martial arts and what they hope to do with that knowledge and experience.
