About
A master teacher who can diagnose most vocal problems, Marje teaches a technique that works for all styles of singing. Students learn relaxation, breathing, projection, tone, diction, and delivery of an authentic and polished performance. Using exercises developed over 25 years of teaching, Marje has developed several warm-up tapes for students to take home.
An accomplished pianist, Marje also coaches and accompanies singers. Singers work with Marje to choose the right material, transpose to the right key, and develop a professional level of performance.
My students teach me something every day. They bring me new material that I would never would have heard!
In teaching them skills in singing, performing, arranging, playing keyboards and songwriting, I get better at all these things.
It is a privilege to witness an artist grow and develop in the intimate setting of a private music lesson or a small group class. Singing brings out our most vulnerable parts, and I am honored to be trusted to share this journey with so many talented and passionate artists.
In learning to play piano, we are asked to apply diligence and patience and to set goals to build our technique and our repertoire. It's not an overnight process. I am always so rewarded when I see the accomplishments of somebody who has stuck with it.
