I teach piano lessons to students of all ages in my home studio, as well as in-home lessons throughout Brooklyn. I've been teaching since 2004 and have operated my own studio since 2007. My lessons are tailored to each student's needs and desires: Classical, Jazz, Pop, Latin, etc. I'm conversant in a variety of styles, but I especially love working on improvisation, composition, jazz, and the music of Brazil. My ultimate goal as a teacher is to spark a love of music in every one of my students, whether it be as a listener or player. I'm a pianist, saxophonist, composer, teacher, and the bandleader of Mente Clara. I recently relocated to Brooklyn after spending the better part of the last decade playing and teaching in the thriving musical community of Austin, Texas. While living in Austin, I was fortunate enough to gig throughout North America, record on a dozen or so records, and maintain a studio of 20-25 piano students. I enjoy performing and studying music of all styles, but I'm especially devoted to the music of Brazil, specifically that of Hermeto Pascoal. My home studio is located in Bed-Stuy, a 3 minute walk from the Chauncy St J and Z trains, a 7 minute walk from the Rockaway Ave C train, and a 10 minute walk from the Bushwick Ave-Aberdeen St L train. I'll travel to most areas of Brooklyn to teach you in your home. I try to make my schedule as flexible as possible to fit your needs and I don't charge a set fee per month or semester.
