About

I have been playing viola and violin for over 17 years. Over those years I have studied, practiced, and performed many times. Whether I performed in school orchestras, community orchestras or local musicals - Whether I practiced for NYSSMA, sight-read duets with a friend, or locked myself in a practice room at college - Music has always been a huge part of my life.

I have studied with many teachers and from each of them I grew not just as a player, but as a teacher myself. You can always continue to learn, this is a fact I remind myself of every day. Playing and teaching music is one of my biggest passions in life and getting to work in it every week is one of the best things I can ask for.

So how can I help your life become more musical?

Frequently asked questions

First: We get to meet each other. We'll go over any history of music making you have, evaluate where you're at and get going from there. You'll also hear a bit about me and hopefully get a sense for how much I enjoy teaching.

Then:  It's time to play! Get out that instrument and let's tune it up. Whether it's school or NYSSMA music, or you're learning for the first time I promise every lesson, yes even the first, will be fun and engaing.

Lastly:  I'll assign you some homework. I know it's the dreaded "H" word however I can't just let you go without having a goal in mind for next lesson. I'll make sure you know how to pack up your instrument properly and see you at the next one!

I attended school for music education and have been teaching privately for about 10 years now. I also have worked in several music stores and have been playing for 17 years.

30 Minute Lessons: $35
60 Minute Lessons: $60

It just came naturally as I continued playing. A friends younger sister needed a teacher and asked if I'd be interested. I was already planning on going to school for music education so it was a no brainer.

Kids as young as 6 ranging to adults as old as 63. I have taught students of all ages and skill levels.

Whether you are preparing for NYSSMA, learning for the first time or preparing for college auditions I've got you covered.

1) Don't go to a music store. You may get a great teacher or you may get a below average teacher, you never know.

2) Don't go for the least expensive option. This also comes into play with number 1 above but you get what you pay for a lot of times in this industry.

3) Make sure your teacher brings their instrument. This may seem simple but I have had teachers that don't bring their instrument to lessons and I just scrathed my head going "huh?" Demonstrating is often easier and more conducive than talking.
