Acting Coach/ Professional Actress And Yale School Of Drama Grad
About
I have passionately dedicated my life to the creation and
collaboration of the art of theatre in all aspects. I have had the
fortune to work with some of the greatest writers, directors,
playwrights, designers and actors in the industry. I am thrilled to
be applying for this position and share all that I have learned and
experienced with emerging young artists that will make up the next
generation of theatre artists.
With more than 20 years of experience as a guest teaching
artist and lecturer I strive to instill a passion in my students for
learning and a continued desire to grow as an artist understanding
that it is a life long process and an exciting one at that. I believe it
is important with our changing times to let theatre reflect that and
our responsibility as artists to constantly bring these issues to the
forefront and not be afraid to do so. I encourage students to find
their own unique voice and never shy away from creating new
work and interpretations of characters.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I determine what each student needs for each specific project or audition on any given day. I listen to their needs and sensitivities and move forward accordingly. We work collaboratively. Nothing any student does in the room is wrong. We determine the most useful way of working to the greatest artistic destination of truth in the work.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
20 years as a professional working actress in New York and all over the world.
MFA from Yale School of drama
BFA from Southern Methodist University
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
60 to 80 per hour negotiable
How did you get started teaching?
I began my last year at SMU teaching Non Majors and never stopped after.
What types of students have you worked with?
All types from very young to old of all skill levels and have loved them all!
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
This summer I had a young man who confessed to having ADHD and having just lost his mother. He never left my side. I watched him come out of his shell and grow with confidence while working on The Tempest. I was so proud that he found theatre as a safe place.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
To find the right one for what they need. We each offer tools to put in your artistic tool box and all teachers will offer someting different.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
I would advise the student to be clear about their expectations and ask how the teacher wants to proceed in the work process. Like acting, it is about talking and listening and finding the truth in the work.
