About

My teaching approach:

Richard here, Looking for Guitar students in the New York area who want to learn the ways of this awesome instrument. Whether it's impressing that special someone, creating your own compositions, or learning that song you really like, there's something here for everyone. I personally play Bass, Guitar, Warr Guitar, Drums and Piano, but Guitar and Bass are my specialty. I teach from ages 5 and up, and have experience with all levels of guitar expertise.

My influences are:

For teaching? Artists. Artists from all corners of the earth. Whether it's painting, poetry, music, dancing, thinking, family or love. Any form of creation is art in my eyes, and to be able to pass to someone, new tools for creativity, is an influence in itself. That said, I like to personally listen to Avant Garde music, experimental black metal, electronic, instrumental and flamenco.

My guitar lessons take place in:

The teacher's studio or the student's home

Guitar lessons typically take place on these days and hours:

I teach every day of the week from 7am - 11pm. Call for availability.

Guitar Techniques:

Lead guitar, Rhythm guitar, Open tuning, Fingerstyle, Slide Guitar, Vocal Accompaniment, Performance, Improvisation, Jamming Skills, Reading Music, Music Theory, Scales and Exercises, Song Writing, Recording and Production, Guidance In Equipment Selection

Your first guitar lesson with me might include the following:

I get to know about them and what they want from these lessons. We then put together a game plan and I take about 5 mins to teach them the basics of guitar builds. Then we start on muscle conditioning.

A guitar lesson with me might entail the following:

It all comes down to what you want to learn. Expressing yourself through guitar as a medium is a beautiful thing. It would be my pleasure to help you achieve that goal. One constant that I do have, is treating the lessons like exercising. If not consistent, the muscles will not develop fast enough to make a sufficient progress. It's important to understand that this takes time because of bodily restraints, but once you past that threshold... you'll make leaps and bounds!

The qualities I look for in an ideal guitar student might include the following:

My ideal student is every student. Don't feel apprehensive because of your lack of understanding or skill at guitar. We all started at the same place, but there's only one place to go from there.
