Third Eye Photography
About
My name is Deborah Matlack and I am a photographer in Brooklyn, New York, specializing in interior/exterior photography for architects, interior designers, engineers, landscape architects, and contractors in the tri-state area. I also photograph corporate/business events, and small family events, as well as portraits.
It's a great privilege to get paid to do what I love, I have enjoyed photography for many years! I most especially enjoy sunrises and sunsets though I don't get paid for these. A labor of love!!

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Meet at a mutually convenient location, ask the student what they are trying to learn. I LISTEN to their concerns. I showed two people over the weekend how to work with manual settings, i.e. ISO, aperture and shutter speed, they never knew how to work with their cameras before.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have been an instructor at New York Institute of Photography for twelve years. I have to practice what I teach, the basic skills, i.e. good focusing and exposure, good composition and good lighting. I use these skills in portraits, architecture and events. I took courses at the School of Visual Arts in the past. Plus I had mentors (professional), I learned as an assistant.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
Usually $75.00 for two hours. After that, we can work something out for ongoing lessons.
How did you get started teaching?
I answered an ad on Craigslist twelve years ago.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Figure out your goals. A woman came to me who designs and sells her own jewelry and wanted to learn how to photograph her pieces for her website.
