Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
When starting with a new student I like to break it down to the very basics, which is learning the proper mechanics as well as teach them why this is the right way. I'd rather them fail with the right technique, then succeed with the wrong technique. At the end of each session I will always ask the client; 1) what they learned/worked on, 2) to explain why we worked on it/ or explain how to do it
I do this because it's not only important to learn the proper technique but also learn and understand WHY it is the proper technique. This is so they grasp what their learning and help them understand how crucial it is to work on what I'm teaching
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Aside from playing softball my whole life and currently being apart of a Division 1 program, I've been instructing young athletes for the past couple years, and have been working with the Staten Island saints travel softball team for years as well
What types of students have you worked with?
I've worked with many young athletes ranging from 7-17.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
Recently I did a 6 session clinic where each week I would meet with a small group of girls for an hour and teach them new and different fielding skills each week
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Always have an idea on something you WANT to work on or WANT to get better at
