Matt Benincasa Acting Coaching
About
I specialize in Meisner based acting training, with a personal touch. I completed the 3 year conservatory program with acclaimed acting teacher Terry Knickerbocker, known for working closely with powerhouse clients Daniel Craig, Sam Rockwell (Academy Award Winner), and Austin Butler (Academt Award Nominee).
My training and experience has made it possible for me to share the tools I learned, which provide for a firm foundation for a fulfilling journey as an actor. For example, we will explore actions, objectives, emotional preparation, and more, to help build a character.
I believe one-on-one coaching adds an important quality to the process, as one tenet to good acting is exploring relationships.
I have 13 years experience working as an actor in film/tv and theater. I have worked deeply in Shakespeare, improv/ sketch comedy, drama theater, and independent film.
I have also spent the last few years directing several plays: Off-Off-Broadway shows such as Peter Pan and Twelve Angry Jurors in the heart of Times Square in New York City.
Favorite roles have included: A Midsummer Night’s Dream, The Heidi Chronicles (Pulitzer Prize Winner 1988), and the true crime show Deadly Sins on Discovery ID.
I hope to share my first-hand knowledge of acting, and work with other passionate, creative people.
For a limited time, I am offering a Buy 1-Get 1 session free deal, for all ages 12+.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
It all depends on what they would like to get out of the lesson. That may be rehearsing a scene for an upcoming audition, working through a script for an already booked role, or playing around with some acting exercises to stay tuned up.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
$25 per hour
How did you get started teaching?
I have had the privilege to be taught by a number of expert teachers at the school where I trained, the Terry Knickerbocker Studio. So I modeled for me excellent teaching skills in acting, voice, movement, and script analysis. The 7 projects I’ve directed have also been opportunities for teaching.
What types of students have you worked with?
All ages, and all stages of their career. Young adults who are just beginning their career in acting, to professional actors currently working in the industry.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Try out as many different teachers as you can - make sure to find someone who you feel is a good fit for you!
