About

Fourty years of teaching painting, drawing , sculpture and photography from kids thru college level. MFA ,Hunter College.

Aaron Olshan American Born (New York) Raised in the Bronx, graduated from the High School Of Musiic & Art in completed his Bachelor of Fine Arts at the School of Visual Arts and later went on to complete a Masters of Fine Art at Hunter College (CUNY) Since the Age of five years old Mr. Olshan knew that he would lead the life of a fine Artist. Watching his father make a drawing at that age, he knew that this was what he would be doing for the rest of his life. The elder Olshan a serious artist in his own right has had a major influence on his son's pursuit of a career as an artist. Surrounded by all

the high powered artists friends of his father during his early years helped to develop his skills and sensitivity to many art mediums (including painting, printmaking, sculpture and photography). He began classical art training at the age of twelve at the Art Students' League, which continued through graduate school and beyond. His exploration various art mediums led Mr. Olshan into developing his own vision, which often included different mediums ia a single artwork. He considers the use of each art medium to be of equal value and is as needed towards the creation of his own personal visual language. Always an avid reader he has been interested in archeology and anthropology, subject matter that he incorporates into his work. He often states that if he were not an artist he would have become an archeologist or anthropologist. Mr. Olshan has been an independent artist for over thirty years and a fixture on the New York art scene since his early art school days. His study of varied techniques can still be observed in his current work of today, though more organic in nature. He has appeared with his father (cover photo) on The New York Times Sunday Arts & Leisure section, September 3, 2000. My role as an Artist is to develop a new visual language in Painting /Printmaking/Sculpture and Photography my work is based on the complexity of empty and full space. I want to explore the association of detailed transparent glazed areas with layred surface development. It was an attempt to relate organic lush form in an compounded visual abstracted architecture that underly's it's representation . It is supposed to be both a found and tense form of the connection between nature and painting/multi-media.

My Art is the product or process of deliberately arranging symbolic elements in a way that influences and affects the senses, emotions, and/or intellect. It encompasses a diverse range of human activities, creations, and modes of expression, including music, literature, film, photography, sculpture, and paintings.

My Art tends to facilitate intuitive rather than rational understanding, and is usually consciously created with this intention.

My Art is often intended to appeal and connect with human emotion. It can arouse aesthetic or moral feelings, and can be understood as a way of communicating these feelings. Artists express something so that their audience is aroused to some extent, but they do not have to do so consciously. My Art explores what is commonly termed as the human condition; that is, essentially what it is to be human. Effective art often brings about some new insight concerning the human condition either singly or en mass, which is not necessarily always positive, or necessarily widens the boundaries of collective human ability. The degree of skill that the artist has, will affect their ability to trigger an emotional response and thereby provide new insights, the ability to manipulate them at will shows exemplary skill and determination.

Stylistically it is a contemporary painting based on my personal visual languge. Aaron Olshan Artist .
