I enjoy working with horses and teaching people about them. It's always a joy to watch when everything's finally clicks together for a student. Come see the boy for yourself!

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
When starting with a new student I first ask how much experience they've had with horses. If they've had zero, then I begin by showing them how to halter a horse, how to properly lead them, and how cross ties work. Then I help them to learn how to groom and tack up the horse. The first few lessons will all begin the same- learning the basics of grooming and racking, and then learning how to mount the horse. They'll learn the proper way to hold the reins, and how to turn and stop their horse. Depending on how quickly a student is learning, they may begin learning how to trot and canter very quickly, or after a few lessons when they feel comfortable. I always make sure that the student doesn't feel overwhelmed or scared with what's going on. If they do, then I ask them if they would like to go back a step until they feel comfortable enough to take the next step.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
The standard pricing is as follows:
1 hour private lesson is $50. If the student requires use of a lesson horse (we have plenty at the farm) then an addition $10 is paid to the owner of the lesson horse for leasing said horse for their hour lesson.
group lessons are $35/each. Groups being 2 or more students. the lesson horse fee still applies for group lessons if the student doesn't have his/her own horse.
I welcome anyone to bring their own horses, in which case it's only $50/hour for a private lesson or $35/hr for a group
How did you get started teaching?
I had started giving lessons to my friends younger sisters/brothers for free. Last year I decided to start making a business venture out of it.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
I would say that a student should try all kinds of different instructors until they find one that best fits their needs/wants. I don't believe they should stay with an instructor if they feel that they aren't enjoying their lessons, or if they feel as though their teacher isn't listening to their needs.
