About this pro

I'm passionate about helping students learn the music that they want to learn while also making the process enjoyable and relaxed. I have more than a decade of teaching experience and have helped hundreds of students become better guitar players throughout the years. I travel to all my students as well as teach online through Skype of FaceTime!

Nothing makes me more excited about teaching guitar than seeing a student not only improve their skills, but also develop a passion for music in general. I also enjoy just playing music with students!

What is your typical process for working with a new student?

First, I like to find out what kind of style they want to learn (favorite songs, artists, etc.). And then I start teaching them the basics of guitar playing with the intent on eventually showing them how to play their favorite songs.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

Just a lot of teaching experience!

Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.

My standard rate is $30 per half hour lesson. Whenever I add a new student to my schedule, I charge for 8 lessons up front if possible. I don't charge any cancellation fees.

How did you get started teaching?

I started teaching guitar more than 10 years ago at a couple different community centers in SW/NW Portland. After a couple years, I was able to start teaching independently. Been doing that full time ever since!

What types of students have you worked with?

As far as ages go, I have taught students as young as 5 and all the way into the 70s. As far as styles go, I have taught everything from Taylor Swift and Imagine Dragons to Metallica and Iron Maiden.

What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?

Find a teacher that makes the process of learning the guitar enjoyable.

What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?

What kind of musical style they are interested in learning
