Andrew Cooper Guitar Lessons
About
My teaching approach:
I have been teaching both private guitar lessons and classes in Central Oregon for over 7 years. I believe in taking a practical approach to the guitar that's both fun and engaging. Beginning students are taught using my method book "Guitar Roads: A Beginner's Guide to the Guitar" that's easy to follow and provides a solid musical foundation. Advanced students are pushed to refine their technique and encouraged to develop their own style.
My influences are:
Eddie Van Halen, Angus Young, Eric Clapton, Andres Segovia, Django Reinhardt, and Jimi Hendrix.
My guitar lessons take place in:

If the student has no experience playing the guitar I will start with the first lesson in my method book. For students with previous experience I will conduct a brief interview session asking what their goals are and what they are hoping to achieve as a guitar player. After hearing them play, I will write a lesson plan that fits the student's needs.
A guitar lesson with me might entail the following:
Lessons are usually divided between working on technique and learning new songs. A typical half hour lesson would first start by reviewing what the student worked on from the last lesson, fixing any technical issues, offering suggestions that can increase progress, and answering any questions they might have.
The qualities I look for in an ideal guitar student might include the following:
Practices everyday and shows up on time.
