About
I'm currently the only Clinical Somatic Educator certified by Essential Somatics in the pacific northwest. The work I do is a form of moving meditation.
I guide people to remedy their own pain and dysfunction issues and calm their nervous systems and lead a more focused life.
Instead of relying on others to "fix" you, I help you find your tension patterns that don't serve you and learn new ways of moving with freedom and ease.
Helping people truly help themselves!
Through somatic (internal) awareness I help people reclaim their innate abilty to calm their nervous systems, get rid of pain, and increase focus and awareness.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Students can opt to start with classes or private sessions. Because people often come to be for help with their pain, I suggest a private session first.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am certified as a Clinical Somatic Educator (CCSE).
I have over 20 years of training and certifications in the personal training and health coaching industry.
I have many certificates in CECs focusing on neurophysiology and somatic awareness.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
You can find all my rate info on my website http://www.thinksomatics.com
How did you get started teaching?
I became a CCSE after I was hit by a car and had a traumatic brain injury. All the typical modalities I thought were supposed to help me, didn't last or made me worse. The work I do as a Somatic Educator goes to the root of all we do: the brain!
What types of students have you worked with?
People mostly come to me because they have "tried everything" for their pain and don't find relief. Somatics is a godsend for them once they find me and this work.
I've helped people reverse degrees of their scoliosis.
I've helped people calm their anxiety and depression.
Sounds like a tall order, but the brain and body are not "connected" they are two sides of the same coin, working in tandem at all times of our lives. Sometimes there is miscommuncation between the brain and body and somatics (moving meditation) helps.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
Just one?! Helping a woman reverse her urinary incontinence.
Helping another person get rid of her sciatica pain in 3 days, via online lessons.
Watching my classes have their own a-ha moments that shift things in their lives.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Meditation in stillness is not the same as Somatic movements.
You learn through movement, so if you want to learn to calm, center and get out of pain, sitting still is going to take you a lot longer.
Explore Clinical Somatics and make friends with your body.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
You can seek people to "fix" you or you can learn to fix yourself.
I'm here to help you help yourself.
You've got this! :-)
