I'm currently the only Clinical Somatic Educator certified by Essential Somatics in the pacific northwest. The work I do is a form of moving meditation.
I guide people to remedy their own pain and dysfunction issues and calm their nervous systems and lead a more focused life.
Instead of relying on others to "fix" you, I help you find your tension patterns that don't serve you and learn new ways of moving with freedom and ease.

Through somatic (internal) awareness I help people reclaim their innate abilty to calm their nervous systems, get rid of pain, and increase focus and awareness.
I had sciatica in my late 30s, which eventually resolved. Unfortunately, on New Year's Day 2019, it returned with a vengeance. I couldn't move without 10+ pain! I couldn't walk without the aid of my trekking poles. I contacted Kristin for an online session (we live in different towns). She immediately assessed the situation, helped me lower my anxiety level, gave me some gentle safe movements to practice a bit every day, and within two days I was totally pain free! I believe Somatics is truly life-altering, because it's all about maintaining our independence and freedom.. Go forth...and pandiculate!
Students can opt to start with classes or private sessions. Because people often come to be for help with their pain, I suggest a private session first.

I became a CCSE after I was hit by a car and had a traumatic brain injury. All the typical modalities I thought were supposed to help me, didn't last or made me worse. The work I do as a Somatic Educator goes to the root of all we do: the brain!
People mostly come to me because they have "tried everything" for their pain and don't find relief. Somatics is a godsend for them once they find me and this work.

Sounds like a tall order, but the brain and body are not "connected" they are two sides of the same coin, working in tandem at all times of our lives. Sometimes there is miscommuncation between the brain and body and somatics (moving meditation) helps.

Meditation in stillness is not the same as Somatic movements.
You learn through movement, so if you want to learn to calm, center and get out of pain, sitting still is going to take you a lot longer.
