I offer piano lessons for all ages, young and old, and all levels of experience. I teach a flexible, adaptable curriculum, which focuses on the needs and interests of each student.
In my lineage of teachers and performers I am only 5 generations from Beethoven. My training emphasized beauty and range of tonal color, teachnical freedom and deep immersion in the music. I also have spent many years under the mentors hip of Don Lehmann, mastering the arts of teaching, with a special emphasis on teaching adults.
I enjoy working with a range of ages and skills in my studio, as well as a range of musical genres. I get to help beginners learn their first songs and more experienced players find the deepest expression of their music. It never gets old.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
The most important thing is to get some music going. As we go along we can get to know each other and fine-tune the lessons. I start where the student is and go from there. I don't use a set curriculum but adapt available materials to each student's needs and skills.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I'm a classical pianist with skills and familiarity throughout the literature. I love playing the music of the great pianist/composers such as Rachmaninof, Chopin, Liszt, but also lots of 20th century composers, such as Poulenc. But I teach a whole range of music because my students have broad interests.
i am constantly studying new literature and new developments in education. I have extensive, post graduate education in both subjects.
How did you get started teaching?
I charge $75.00/hour, but bill tuition by the term in order to simplify accounting. Other arrangements are available.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with 4 year olds and 80 year olds and everyone in between. I have started newbies of 65 and helped coach professionals. I mentor other teachers and I teach lots of kids just starting out. I particularly like adults and transfer students, partly because my training emphasized this area and partly just because I do.
