Hello there, my name is Cassandra Carl, founder/owner of Sunset Acres Training Stable "Where Bright Futures Begin, With A Gentle Touch." Here's a bit about me. I was basically born in the barn, my mom was a horse trainer & breeder of Appaloosa horses. I got my 1st pony at age 3, a sweet black Hackney Pony from the auction named Tarbaby, but had been riding my moms amazing Quarter Horse gelding, Blackie, prior to that. I recieved & started training my own 1st horse at the young age of 7, he was a half crippled 2 yr old appaloosa gelding that, with corrective work & time, came to be a great horse, competeing in our 1st horse show at age 8 & 3, he had a great career winning many awards in Western, Hunt Seat, Trail, & even barrel racing. We also jumped, did a little dressage for fun, parades, worked cattle, & were on a drill team. He went blind at age 9 due to an accident in the trailer but I continued competing on him for 6 more years, then used him for lessons & trail rides into his late 20's when he was retired, he had to be euthanized at age 32 due to a stroke. I started showing horses for other people around age 10 & training horses for others at age 14, but helping my mom out with horses in our barn since I was old enough to handle what she was asking. I have worked with/for a variety of trainers through the years in a wide variety of disciplines & breeds, learning everything I possibly could from all of them. I even spent 6 years as a professional groom for a world champion Morgan trainer & breeder. I've worked with Appaloosas, Quarter Horses, Paints, Morgans, Belgians, Mustangs, Arabians, Friesians, Warmbloods, Holsteiners, Thoroughbreds, Spotted Drafts, Gypsies, Shetlands, POAs, Hackney Ponies, Welsh Ponies, & Miniature Horses. I've competed in both open & Appaloosa Breed Shows in Halter, Showmanship, Western Equitation & Pleasure, Hunt Seat Equitation & Pleasure, Trail, Hunt Seat Over Fences, intro Dressage, Barrel Racing, Pole Bending, Drill Team, & ridden in tons of Parades. I have one assistant, Nichole, who has been with me for 13 years now. She helps out with the young horses in our program & helps out with leadline lessons on occasion. She has ridden & shown with me for many years, earning several awards herslef, showing my horses or her own in Western, Hunt Seat, Halter, Showmanship, & Trail. We offer lessons and training in Western, Hunt Seat, Equitation & Pleasure, Showmanship, Trail, Halter, Hunter In Hand, beginning Hunt Seat Over Fences, & some gaming events. Colt Starting & Problem Horses as well. We feel that every horse & human is unique, so we do our best to tailor our program to meet you & your horses needs. We are happy to welcome haul in lessons & do have a couple beginner lesson horses available.

I love helping people learn about horses, themselves, watching them grow & become successful in whatever path or discipline they choose. I enjoy watching the bond build between a horse & rider while riders gain confidence, courage, & trust. Horses help & heal people in so many ways, I love being able to share that experience with people. Please reach out to me through our Facebook page with the link listed below.

    Frequently asked questions

We like to take the 1st lesson (or sometimes 2) to get to know our new students, let them get to know us & get comfortable working with us. Asking/answering questions & evaluate what level they &/or their horse are at so we can devise a plan to best help them succeed & achieve their goals.

Our prices are pretty reasonable at $35/lesson ( you will not be charged extra if your lesson runs long) or you can purchase a lesson package of 5 lessons for $150 (a $25 savings). We do also run Specials often.

We have worked with beginners of all ages starting as young as 3 on up to various adults as well as experienced students of all ages wanting to further their knowledge, fine tune their skills, work out some kinks with them or their horse, advance in their competition level, or learn a new discipline.
