Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I want to know what their goals are, how they like to learn, and what their previous musical experience has been. I usually meet with a student and their family to find out what their interests are and to explain what I have to offer to help them to achieve their goals.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have bachelor degree in music from San Francisco State University and a doctorate in education. I've been teaching for over 40 years addressing the learning needs of students of a wide range of ages from pre-schoolers to those who are over 60 years old.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
Very young students take 30 minute lessons once a week: $25 per lesson paid monthly in advance on the first day of each month. Older students take 45 minute lessons ($35) or 60 minute lessons ($45).
How did you get started teaching?
I started teaching when I was in high school. My studio grew so once I graduated, I was able to teach full-time.
