Emphasis on vocal technique will be implemented by vocal exercises with concentration on suitable repertoire.

Janet Michaud is a gifted Lyric Soprano producing accolades as a versatile operatic actress with solid achievements on international and regional opera stages.

Ms. Michaud has made successful debuts in Asia, Europe and the United States with The Vienna Kammeroper, Zurich Opera, Fort Worth Opera, Hawaii Opera, Pennsylvania Opera, Pittsburgh Opera, Augusta Opera, The Fort Lauderdale Opera, The Greater Miami Opera, Tampa Bay Opera, Bel Canto Opera (New York), and Boheme Opera (New Jersey).

Concert and Oratorio work has spanned the Eastern United States including concerts with The West Village Chorale (Brahms Requiem, New York), The Pittsburgh Oratorio Society (Bach’s Saint Mathew Passion), The Texas Bach Choir (Bach’s Saint John Passion and Bach’s Weinacht’s Oratorio), The Westmoreland Symphony (The Messiah), The Johnstown Symphony, (The Messiah, Carmina Burana, Verdi Requiem) and The Music Group of Philadelphia, (Sean Diebler, Conductor).

Ms. Michaud has been awarded the MET Auditions First Place Winner in both Pittsburgh and West Virginia, as well as winning the Indianapolis Vocal Competition. She has performed for Placido Domingo as soloist in his Master Class series which premiered in Pittsburgh and Philadelphia.

Apprentice work includes appearances with the Zurich Opera International School of Singers, Banff Festival of the Arts, and Chautauqua Opera where she was featured in Gala performances of symphonic works ranging in style from Mozart to Bernstein.

Symphony engagements have included The Zurich Opera Orchestra (Christian Thielemann, Conductor) The Chautauqua Symphony Orchestra (Cal Stuart Kellogg, Conductor), The Johnstown Symphony (Istvan Jaray, Donald Barra, Conductors), The Bedford Springs Festival Symphony (Jacques Brourman, Conductor), The Westmoreland Symphony and The Bratislava Orchestra (Czechoslovakia).

Ms. Michaud has been awarded international scholarships for study and performance in Italy through (EPCASO), Ezio Pinza Council for American Singers of Opera, studying with Claudia Pinza (University of Pittsburgh and Enza Ferrari of La Scala), as well as touring, as soloist, with the internationally acclaimed Heinz Chapel Choir throughout France.
