How did you get started teaching?
My teaching lifestyle started in my military career. In the civilian life, I applied to the City Of Philadelphia Forensic department decades ago. I passed the test with a score of 95, (competed against 300 people that was testing) and was informed that I was over qualified for the position. Then, I applied to become a researcher with the state to work with a HIV/AIDs Research team, I was informed I was under qualified. So, since I had a passion for teaching and I wanted to give back to my culture, I applied to teach with the Philadelphia School District and was ACCEPTED.
This is where I learned as a teacher how much my services was needed with primary school students. There was and is alot going on that needs to be changed. (Those teaching years is full of heart-warming experiences that laid my hard foundation for teaching 1998)
Moving On, later years after graduating massage Therapy school. I decided I wanted to have my own massage Therapy school and teach the program to better suit what was in demand at the time in the massage Industry. I am the 1st woman of color to own a massage Therapy school in Philadelphia. (Always Be The 1st in something) So, I was the CEO and Teacher of Professional Massage Therapy Institute. (PMTI)
Moving On - Later years again (2010) I applied to the national board to be an approved continuing education provider. My application was accepted, my courses was and are vetted for approval.
Today, I still teach at a vocational massage therapy school (part time) and I will always teach my CE Courses to inspire, empower, and educated licensed Massage Therapists, Estheticians, and Nurses.
