About
I teach two great sports: flying and skiing!
I'm a commercial and instrument pilot and an FAA-Certificated Flight Instructor (CFI-I), as well as an Advanced and Instrument Ground Instructor.
I'm also a PSIA-certified Level-I Alpine Skiing Instructor.
Both flying and skiing are fun, lifelong sports people can participate in, alone or with buddies. For those interested, there are also career options in both of these fields.
I love working with students to help them overcome their hurdles and achieve their goals.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I like to conduct initial meetings by email and phone to determine if we're a good fit. Often an introductory "discovery" session is a good starting point. Then we plan in-person training sessions around a mutually-amenable schedule.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a Master of Science degree in Education and I've worked as an instructor in various capacities for basically my entire life. Among my previous jobs, I was a Microsoft-certified IT technical trainer, an educational content developer, and a high school teacher & tennis coach.
I hold FAA ratings as as a certificated flight instructor (CFI-I), commercial pilot, instrument pilot, advanced ground instructor, and instrument ground instructor.
I'm certified by PSIA as a Level-I Alpine ski instructor.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
I can offer flexible pricing to accomodate individuals and groups, or may be able to arrange group instruction for individuals looking for a less-expensive training experience.
How did you get started teaching?
I began tutoring classmates when I was in elementary school, and have always had a passion for teaching. I volunteered as a youth leader in Civil Air Patrol for 23 years. I've been an IT technical trainer, a high school teacher, a tennis coach, an educational content developer, and I'm actively working as a ski instructor (in season) and teaching fliying to current and aspiring pilots.
What types of students have you worked with?
I've worked with students of all ages and abilities in a variety of educational settings.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
As a flight instructor, my own CFI has referred her students to me to help them polish their education and skills for their checkrides, and they've come back to me afterwards, of their own volition, for additional follow-up instruction.
As a ski instructor, I've been given students who've come back to specifically request me for additional training.
I love that I'm able to help people achieve their goals, and I love being appreciated for it.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Skiing and flying can be wonderful fun and terrific lifelong pastimes. For those interested, there are even career options in both fields. Find a knowledgeable and experienced instructor with whom you mesh.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
How much time can you commit to your training? How frequently are you available to train? Consider your specific goals - what do you hope to get out of your training? How much can you afford to spend on your training?
