Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Determine their level of expertise and if they have their own sewing machine or if I have to furnish one. Then determine if they prefer traveling to me or for me to travel to them. The first lesson would be very basic with the student being introduced to the care and feeding of the machine and terms which apply to sewing.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
My sewing experience started at the age of twelve when my mother turned over the construction of my own clothes to me as she then had six younger children to sew for. I learned how to fit and tailor dresses, jackets and pants. If I wanted to wear something, I had to make it. My first 'store bought' dress was a prom dress for my senior year. I have also been a quilter for fifteen years and are a member of our local quilting guild. I can do both machine and hand sewing as well as hand embroidery and crewel work.
