About

Background:

My name is Jacob Braswell. I am a 26 y/o male in Philadelphia.

I began playing tennis in my freshman year of high school and played through my senior year achieving rank 3 out of 12 varsity positions.

Additionally, I have spent a combined total of 3 years coaching both men's and women's tennis for the Fleetwood Area High School in Berks County. During this time i worked on fostering positive player mentality, creating team cohesion, and developing championship level play in young adults ranging from the age of 14-18 (This does not disqualify children under this age from my instruction). I have taken my teams to districts, flights championships, and even state level play.

Partnered with other head coaches, I have also assisted with multiple tennis camps specifically for children 13 and under.

Frequently asked questions

The initial lesson will be spent getting a baseline measure of player skill and experience.  The next step is to diagnose areas of improvement by combining my own knowledge with the client's input and feedback.  Finally we will establish a set schedule, online assignments (i.e. watching videos on form/technique) in the off-meeting times, and a training development plan.

I hold a bachelor's in Organizational Psychology which has given me the knowledge to dissect development issues on an individual and team-based level in order to set a corrective development plan.

I am also currently enrolled in a master's program in organizational development and leadership which will finely sharpen the aforementioned skills.

I followed my passion as a tennis player after high school and began assistant coaching for my high school team and quickly developed what it took to be a coach vs. a player.  The two mentalities are very different and over 3 years of experience in coaching both men's & women's tennis I have finely developed my techniques and recommendations.

I primarily work with adolescents and young adults (ages 13-18)

However I have had success in teaching individuals in their 40's, as well as hosting tennis camps for children 12 and under.

Look for a coach who is willing to do every drill by your side.  If they are instructing you to do a form of conditioning that they cannot complete themselves, then they tend to have a harder time understanding limitations and reasonable expectations.
