I meet my students where they are at in their musical journey. I collaborate with the student to determine their goals and develop lesson plans to meet those goals. Music should never feel like a chore, so I have a gentle and positive approach.

I have a Master of Counseling with a specialization in Child-Centered Play Therapy from Regis University.

My musical training includes being a section violinist in the Southern Methodist University Conservatory Orchestra from 1987-1993.

While in my training to be a counselor I discovered I have a passion for working with children. I specialized in Child-Centered Play Therapy. After that, I began working in Special Education. Then, one day someone asked if I could give violin lessons, and I have been teaching violin ever since.

I recently worked with the Swallow Hill rock music summer camp where we prepared a group of students to perform an influential rock album in one week at the Mercury Cafe. To see their set develop from start to finish was inspiring. Learning to play an instrument well is one thing, but learning to play well with other people is a whole new skill set.
