I've been a professional guitarist, instructor, and band leader in the Boston area for over 20 years, with extensive performance experience both regionally and nationally. My method is logical and methodical and based on a system I devolped while getting my degree at Berklee College of Music.
Learning to play guitar proficiently and fluently consists of understanding the PROCESS OF PLAYING GUITAR, which is simply how to get the music in our HEADS to translate to music in our HANDS on the guitar.
Hear a sound in your head
Recognize that sound (using Basic Music Theory & Ear Training)
Visualize how that sound appears on the guitar (Learn the Fretboard)
Get your hands to make that sound efficiently and effortlessly (Technique work)
I'm a guitar nerd! I love music and I love to play guitar, it's what drives me. Sharing my love of the instrument and watching a student make progress is incredibly fullfilling and I'll continue to teach (of course perform) as long as I can.
