Music With Mike
About
Offering Piano, Keyboard, Organ, and Synth lessons. Ive been playing professionally for 15 years on the road and in the studio and currently have 5+ years teaching experience with all different styles of music. Lessons are conducted in comfort of your own home via video chat. I believe music should be fun, and not forced! I like to let the student or parent decide which style or direction they wish to go in!
I absolutely love learning about a students history and current musical abilities vs. their goals, then making a plan of action to take them to the top!

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I like to start by finding out what motivates the student. What are their goals? If thay are younger, I speak with the parents. I take a very open approach to my lessons. They are driven by the students goals, not mine.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have played professionally for over 15 years in studio, church, and on tour. I have taught professionally for 3+ years. I am a working musician who can be found playing locally around town 3-4 nights/week.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
Lessons are either 30, 45, or 60 minutes weekly or bi-weekly. Pricing is $25, $35, or $40.
How did you get started teaching?
I started teaching in my hometown of Toledo, OH in 2007 in the storage room of a music store! I then moved to Charlotte, NC in 2009 to join a touring music group. I traveled the country for several years, but then decided to grow roots in Charlotte and stop touring. I now teach full time and do studio work for various recording artists.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with everyone from professional athletes, striving rock stars, grandma who wants to sharpen her skills, to hard working financiers who need a stress relief, to 9 year olds with learning disabilities. I enjoy working with all types of studends and all ages. Everyone is welcome!!
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Ask questions! Experience is everything. Find someone you can relate to on a personal level! Also find a teacher that teaches the style you want to learn!
