    Frequently asked questions

There really is no process.  It's about meeting new people.  Loving and treating them the way Jesus Christ has commanded us.  It's that simple.  I evaluate, take notes, and depending on age I will record numbers.  Sometimes the evaluation can be frustrating for the student but I help them to understand this is why they are here.  Fielding, hitting, pithing, catchers.  I do this so I can better understand personalities, quirks, confidence levels, etc.  By doing this it helps me determine drills, approach, and anything that might be required to help the student become the best possible player and teammate they can be.  Basically, it's how we build our relationship.

I have been around baseball virtually my entire life.  I was 2 years All Big Bend second basebman at Liberty County High School located in a small town named Bristol, FL.  I hold a few records that still stand, (Batting Avg. Fielding Percentage).   I was recruited by LSU, Alabama, Mississippi State, Florida A&M, Tuskeege, Florida State.  Evaluated by the Cleveland Indians, Florida Marlins, and Minnesota Twins, in which I did absolutely horrible.  Couldn't throw, couldn't run, I was just plain ugly.  I was not anything to write home about.  I was small, I didn't know how to run, I didn't have a good arm.  I say all of this because this is why I do what I do.  I was talented, very talented, but I was not developed.  I had phenominal coaches, however, growing up and playing in Florida in my generation, we were good enough to get it done.  The downside is that we were not developed.  I do this because I want to see kids not only excell, but go as far as they can go in this wonderful sport.

I was medically retired out of the US Air Force and I needed something to do for fun.  I also wanted to do something to impact our young kids in a positive way.  Especially when it comes to faith in Christ because when 75% of kids who grow up in the church leave the faith after leaving home, that is a serious problem.  I wanted to do something that I could help instill why we must believe in Christ.  Why we much love our neighbors as ourselves.  Why we must honor our fathers and mothers.  What has made this country great.  I saw our kids being drawn away, being lied to, being manipulated, etc.  I just wanted to do my part.  Help steer these kids in the right direction.

You name it.  Some students who didn't make their high school teams.  Some who barely played at all.  Some who have never played.  I have had some of the weakest and I have had some of the best.  I've helped numerous go on to play College ball.  Some who never made their high school team are playing baseall in college.  What happens outside of my doors has no bearing on how I operate.  This is a process and when student and parents commit to the process, special things happen, because I will pour all that I have to help this kid make it.

Practices and workouts.  I just watching my kids get better.

Not much to say.  Baseballl/softball is so wideopen that with all of the different coaching styles and terminology it is really not a cut and dry answer except does he teach you properly?  The problem with that is that baseball is is high failure sport.  You can do things totally wrong and get great results.  How are you going to know if it's right or not?

IS BASEBALL FUN?  DO YOU LOVE THIS GAME?  DO YOU WANT TO PLAY BEYOND HIGH SCHOOL?  Are you coachable?  Do you truly want to get better?  Is there a position you would like to learn that you do not currently play?  Are you afaid of failing?
