Jim encouraged and helped me to not only play better banjo, he also encouraged me to restart guitar.

I am going back for more instruction may take some family and friends.

Jim is a very patient and knowledgeable teacher. He’s always able to find ways to make me understand the material. He has a great passion for bluegrass music that’s infectious. I have been a student of his for over two years and look forward to my lesson every week.

I have been taking lesson from Jim for about three years. Prior to this I had tried numerous teach yourself books and DVDs and got nowhere. After just a couple of lessons with Jim I could actually play something ! Jim is a knowledgeable and patient instructor and makes the lessons something to look forward to each week.

Jim is a great teacher. He challenges me and encourages me to become a better player. He is helping me rely less on tablature and to trust my ability to play by improvising. An added bonus is that he is also an amazing luthier. He set up my banjo making a few minor adjustments and replacing the head. He truly saved the day when my banjo was dropped and he repaired it so the crack isn’t even noticeable! I highly recommend Jim as a teacher and luthier!

Jim is as patient and encouraging as he is talented and knowledgeable. Ive learned so much and have truly enjoyed the process!Jim always makes me want to strive to be a better musician and has helped me conquer my shyness and hesitancy to play in front of others.
