What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Evaluate if they have had any training and what books/material need to be used. I usually will do first lesson for free, but that is decided after I speak with the potential student.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I graduated from Booker T. Washington HSPVA in Dallas, Tx majoring in music. I also attended University of Texas in Arlington with intense training in Classical and Jazz music.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
For a 1 hour lesson if paying by the month is $160/monthly. If paying each lesson the pay is $50 each lesson.
For 30 minute lesson if paying by the month is $120/monthly. If paying for each individual lesson the pay is $35 each lesson.
How did you get started teaching?
I started teaching private piano lessons in 2004. My first student was my Aunt. I taught her for 3 years. I realized in that first year of teaching her that I had a passion for this.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with beginners,intermediate, and experienced students young and old.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
One of my students that I taught for about 3 years is currently attending High School for music. He actually attends the same high school I graduated from. Booker T. Washington.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Look for someone who is passionate about music and teaching it.
