Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I utilize the SMART Goal Coaching Model:
So, What is a SMART Goal?
A SMART Goal is simply a goal where the SMART criteria have been met. SMART goals are Specific, Measurable, Actionable, Realistic and Timebound. A SMART goal is also easier to achieve, and track progress for, because it's well-rounded and clearly defined.
SMART Goals Stand For:
- Specific (being clear and specific makes goals and actions easier to achieve - and start!)
- Measurable (helps you know when a goal or action is complete and measure progress)
- Actionable (ensures you have direct control over the actions needed to achieve the goal)
- Realistic (avoid overwhelm and unnecessary stress and frustration by making the goal realistic)
- Timebound (helps us stay focused and motivated, inspiring us with a date to work towards)
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have over 20 years combined coaching experience in Gymnastics, Cheerleading, Dance, and Tumbling.
I cheered at the University of Texas for 4 years and was the captain for 2 years. I coached thosands of students in hip hop and cheer dance inorder to make their school teams all across the country.
I have been taking Latin, Country, and Hip Hop Dance Classes as an adult for personal enjoyment and to increase my skills for my students.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
I charge $99/hr for private-in person lessons and $69 for Virtual. I'm currently offering a discount for students for their 1st 4 lessons to promote Performing Arts and Musical Therapy Services during the Pandmeic.
How did you get started teaching?
I fell in love with gymnastics from a very young age. I was the kid in the library renting books on gymnastics, watching it on tv, and then trying it in the front yard. My parents put me in gymnastics and the best, most postivite, coaches I had were my gymnastics, cheer, and dance coaches.
I started coaching myself at age 15years old and have been coaching ever since.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with students aged Pre-school through Adults. Primary focus has been with ages 10-18years.
I also worked in a Mental Health Facility were I instructed youth ages 10-18 who suffered from multiple mental health and physical dissabilities.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I recently participated in a drum circle that was for musicians, dancers, and singers to express themselves through movement for enjoyment and therapeutic healing.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Be sure to make sure you do your research. Ask for references and look them up on-line.
