About

Teaching from the heart, won't judge how you get it done. Will teach the basic or help with advance skills. Willing to work on all level of projects. If I haven't done it(crochet based skill) yet I will learn how and then convey it in a major that isn't textbook lingo. Sometimes the outside the box perspective is what helps it click.

I also can take students who wish to learn in person via me facebook page. I have most mornings open at the college I work at so I can always have an impromptu meeting there.

Besides learning a post apocalyptic life skill(note scarcasm), learning to make something with your own hands. Being able to surprise people with a present that is totally unique. Can't begin to tell you about the number of baby showers that the mom is in tears because they recieve and heirloom style item that will carry on for life with their child. Or be able to make a bear for cuddling for a family member who lost their bundle of joy. It is a skill that can help bring all points of life together from birth, to anniversary/celebration, to mourning and remembrance.

    Frequently asked questions

Student pays for the session, I provide the materials, we go over the basics or an assessment of what they believe they know then we work on trying to do what they want to make. If new to crocheting typically I will have them start with a beaded necklace, which incorporates chaining and finishing off. Then we will try either a granny square or a coaster, depending on which is easier, not all crocheters start the same and some take to multi level stitches better than single crochet. After that, once we confirm that they know the basics we will look for a small project as homework, something they want to make and have a goal to achieve and will schedule next session and start onf the "homework". Sessions stop when the customer thinks they can do it on their own or are ready to explore of their own accord.

I have been crocheting/crafting for 17+ years now and have taught several friends and students at the college I work at.

30$ for new to crocheters, 20$ for advance beginners, 15$ for advance crocheters(with potential to increase based on supplies needed for project) and master level classes are priced by topic.

A friend wanted to know how I made cute stuffed animals. A hook, ball of scrap yarn, and some time later she had the basic down. Now she makes scarves and plushies of her own.

Considering I work in the college world I have worked with all types of students.

Look for one with patience, it takes some people longer than others to pick up the skill. Which is why I charge by session  not hour. I may spend 2-3 hours working with you and send you home doing the same thing and it may finally click at home. This happens alot as students may fell like they have to know what they are doing at all times. Or they get blustered as they are making their hands do something they aren't use to doing.

Also look for one who excites you, make you want to try new things. As a crocheter in both business and side hobby, doing the same thing repeatedly tends to burn you out. For example, my main business is stuffed animals(that is what sells) after doing 2 bunnies and a unicorn I want to make something flat, my hands cramp from holding them in specific positions for a while and you just want to change it up. So I will look for a cute headband or scarf to do, something quick and small.

Don't get a teacher who ladels you with a monstrous project like a kind size blanket or a mandala pattern unless your looking for help on something like that. If all you need help with is how not to make a triangle then express that and make sure they understand that is all you want help with.

    Average cost of materials?

Average length of time for projects?

Be prepared to spend 30 minutes discussing theoretical first.
