Vernita Hoyt, Artist

I am a professional artist and architectural designer with a B.Arch. from the University of Houston College of Architecture. I have a strong background in design, drawing, and painting. I took my first painting lessons at age 9 and have been painting ever since.

Art is essential for our souls.

I enjoy guiding students to reach that "aha" moment when they recognize their unique talents and style of painting. My classes include instruction in Basic Techniques for the medium in use, as well as Composition and Design.

A fifth generation native Texan, I am deeply entwined in the land and lore as I paint the Sauce of TexasTM and create an art collage of my life. Finding joy in the process, I design ... I draw ... and I paint."
