About
Hi, I'm Tena Pruitt and I would love to be your next Zumba instructor. Zumba started for me about 8 years ago when I first walked into a class and it was love at first sight! I loved the energy, the music, the FUN and of course the results I got from Zumba. So three years ago I decided to get my certification and I've been teaching ever since. It was awesome to work out as a student but as an instructor, my focus has changed to benefiting my students and sharing with them the same things that help me.
Fitness is an ongoing journey and it would be a privilege to join you on your journey.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
My first priority is to assess where my students are in their fitness journey. Are they a beginner? Have they ever done Zumba before? How active are they? Then I adjust accordingly. I offer modifications to the steps that are high impact so that people can work out at their own pace. I always encourage my students to pay attention to their heart rate and work in the zone that is proper for them.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am Zumba Certified well as CPR Certified. I work diligently to follow Zumba's choreography and keep up to date on current playlists and songs.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
My average class price is $25.00 to $45.00 per class at gyms or corporate facilities. If I am working one on one with a student the price is generally $10.00 to 15.00 per session.
How did you get started teaching?
It was right after my daughter was born and I wanted to stay home with her, so I was looking for some ways to supplement my income and I decided to get Certified. I started at local Rec Centers and then with some of the local gyms and I've also enjoyed doing several corporate classes and events.
What types of students have you worked with?
I've worked with students in every age group. My first class was primarily Active Seniors and then I moved to a different Rec Center to teach an open class with ages 18 and up. At that same Center I also worked with their after school and summer camp kids.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
My favorite event so far has been Zumba at the Library! Hands down one of the best classes ever. The City of Grand Prairie offers it free once per week for anywhere from 6 to 10 weeks at a time. The energy is awesome and everyone has a great time!
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Zumba is full of diversity and no two teachers are the same. There will be some that you just click with and others you may not so be open minded and give each instructor at least 3 classes before you make up your mind either way.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Where are you currently in your fitness? You have to know where you are before you can get where you want to go. Are you recovering from or currently have any injuries or health limitations that you are working with? What Certifiations does the instructor have?
