About
I want to teach my students the amazing opportunities and resources that music can bring. I had to deal with the harsh realities of life at a young age and the one thing that stuck with me and really helped me along the way was my music. It gave me another place to go when I felt too weighed down, gave me a reality that I could create. Each individual has a different feeling or outcome from a piece of music, I want to encourage the self confidence and the individuality in each students playing. I want to give my students the same opportunities that I have had in my life to help them get through the hard times that may come, and always give them an outlet to get away for a little bit.
I will help push to become better at not only in music but in self respect and respect towards others, I play because to me, music helps mend the broken and heal the internal wounds. But to someone else they may play for another reason, in the end though we are all playing because our love for music.
I thrive for learning new things about performance and playing the flute, teaching students will allow me to disperse my knowledge even more and get to put it into effect. I am a strong believer in the more you teach the better you teach, therefore I want my students to challenge me as well to find the best solutions to any problem that may come my way. I have played in many bands/ orchestras as well as marching band along my educational path and have done many solo performances. I love to find fun ways to practice and prepare for a performance in order to get the most out of your time and to have a great time performing!
I can't wait to get started teaching the wonders of music! I work well with all ages as I am excited for anyone that is interested in this amazing art. I am confident that we will make it far, as I love the challenge that a new student can bring. Let's learn flute together!
So many things but mainly seeing my students thrive and feel accomplished about the things they have accomplished. My main goal is to teach indipendence and self confidence so seeing one of my students killing it on stage makes me feel like I've done my job right. And not even just in music but when my students pass their classes or make it through a really tough situation in life I can't help but feel utterly proud of them. So really accomplishment is what I enjoy, you will only go as far as you want to in life.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
If the student wants to work on something then that is what we will work on. If they come with nothing then I will help choose something to work on, I will always have back up material so there will never be a dry moment during a lesson. My lessons should be fun and revolved around what the student is wanting to play, I will still teach the proper ways of playing and critique to become better. There will be occassional material that they will have to play that I choose but everything I choose WILL make them more proficient in technique or tone. My goal in teaching is to have the student be able to pick up any piece that they like and be able to play it without my help.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have played flute all throughout middle school and high school. I am currently in college for music performance/ education.
What types of students have you worked with?
throughout my years of teaching I was selected during high school to become the secondary flute lesson teacher for the middle school students. As well My senior year I was asked to help out a lot of the flute players and so I have experience teaching middle and high school students but wouldn't mind teaching even younger and older.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Find a teacher that is going to help your uniqness and indipendence in music. Sheet music is just paper with a bunch of black dots all over it. It's the musician that tells the story and conveys the feelings, don't let anyone suppress that.
