Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
First and most importantly, I greet them and get to know them a bit. It's important to build some trust, to make them feel comfortable and confident. Afterward, we discuss the goals they want to reach, and I create a personalized plan to make the process fun and interesting!
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I'm a Political Scientist with several years of teaching experience. I've given individual and group classes to people of all ages.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
I charge per hour.
How did you get started teaching?
I applied for a volunteering program in my natal city. I taught Spanish to adults who hadn't had the opportunity to finish high school.
What types of students have you worked with?
Lots of types! I've worked with little kids, teenagers, adults, seniors... I've worked individually, in private classes, or in larger groups.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
Recently, I had the opportunity to spend some time with my granny. She's learning how to use her smartphone, so getting to watch her try to use Youtube was so endearing.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
I would tell them to choose someone they feel it's easy to create a good relationship with. Sometimes, it's more important feeling confident and trusting your teacher, than the experience and qualifications they may have.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
They should think of whatever questions they want to ask! There's no silly question, at all! As long as they are respectful and not overly personal, questions are always welcome!
