I have enjoyed the Martial Arts my whole life, over 60 years now. I would love to introduce you to all the benefits of training in karate at the Academy of Okinawan Karate of Texas.
Our students increase self confidence and self esteem as they progress through the ranks, which of course are designated by various colored belts. This visual sign of their accomplishments bolsters their self image.
Our karate students increase self discipline as they build the physical strength, in order, to accomplish their goals.
When people think of Martial Arts, they think of self defense. Our style of Okinawan Karate is focused on self defense first, unlike many styles and schools which are focused on competition and self defense is an after thought.
Although our focus is primarily self defense, many of our students enjoy competition. Eighteen of our students have won the World Karate Championships.
Our director, Joseph Walker, has won the World Championships five times, three times in Master's Division Forms and twice as the Grand Champion of Koshiki or fighting in armor. He is a Ninth Degree Black Belt and a Chief Instructor of the Shuri Ryu system.
