Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Our first time together is an opportunity for us to get to know each other, to ask questions, and decide if we are a good match. I will access your needs and create a unique class for you. We will set goals and work toward them at your place, addressing your changing needs as we progress.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am classically trained in traditional Yoga as it has been practiced for many thousands of years. My lineage is over 1300 years old, and my practice is grounded in the theaputic benefits of yoga as a lifestyle that address the whole person, not the individual parts. I have much practical training and experience with people having severe injury, trauma, and stress related conditions.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
My sessions are usually 60 to 75 minutes and fees are based on the distance I travel to you, what equipment-if any, is needed, and if the sessions are at my private studio.
How did you get started teaching?
In 2000, my personal practice began in desperation. I weighed 320 lbs. I had type 2 diabetes. And I was deeply depressed as I was going through a painful divorce. I knew if I did change my lifestyle, I would not live much longer. My doctor suggested I take yoga classes, and so my transformation began. Yoga taught me to accept, love, and respect myself. My change began on the inside and moved outward. As my self-respect grew, I began to change my way of eating; as I began to experience my body, I began to understand it and how to best care my body. I lost 130 lbs, and now that I'm in my 50s, I'm healthier and happier than I ever have been. Yoga saved my life, and it has become my passion and mission in life. I want to share with you the tools that can make you the best you can be!
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with people of all ages-from teens to 90s, body builders, cross fit and Pilates instructors, people with heart disease, cancer, chronic depression, anxiety, fibromyalgia, Parkinson's, cystic fibrosis, spinal injuries, obesity, autoimmune diseases, dementia, substance abuse, joint injuries, muscle injuries, PTSD, professional athletes, and the guy next door....
