About
I am teaching group piano lessons on Zoom for teens and adults! Our focus will be learning to read music for playing melodies in the right hand, while adding chords in the left hand. We'll be doing pop music primarily. I will also teach some creative exercises for making your own music. So many adults tell me they wish they could play, so I'm here to make that happen!! I have a degree in piano from UT, taught elementary music for 31 years, and private piano lessons for 8. I love the instrument and helping others enjoy it, so reach out if interested!
I have made my life and career about music and playing the piano. I love people and this instrument so teaching has always been a great fit for me! This will be a no stress, fun way to engage with others, the piano, and music all at the same time!

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
We will start with introduction to the keyboard, creating our own tunes on the black keys and learning to keep a steady beat. From there, we'll learn to read the treble staff, using the right hand. We'll learn how to play chords in the left hand, which playing those right hand melodeis. This is the basics for pop music. We will expand with more difficult melodies and tips for how to spice up the left hand chords. I will also teach how to write your own melodies and add chords, as well as how to improvise. I like to have variety to keep it interesting and fun!
