About

I have been a Golf Professional here in San Antonio since 2006. The majority of my lessons have been one on one private lessons. However, I have done many group lessons. My clients have ranged from beginners to advanced players. I have worked with juniors, seniors and everyone in between. I spent one year as an instructor for the US National Junior Team. In 2020, I was one of six Golf Professionals chosen by the National Golf Foundation to father in a new beginners programmed called Welcome2Golf. I am easy to work with and consider myself the best in the business. I will make you understand the golf swing in the simplest way. In doing so, I will help you continue to build your strengths as well as work to improve your weaknesses. I use demonstration and video analysis to assist you in breaking down your lessons.

My mission in life is to inspire those around me. Whether it's using my knowledge and skills as a golf instructor or using my life skills and compassion to help lift a heavy heart. Or, maybe just plain old fashion motivation. Helping other's is my life's passion.

Full disclosure, I recently finished my second of first five lessons with Francisco. He has been very patient and professional, yet easily explains swing mechanics and terminology to complete newbie. Mr. Martinez is constructive when describing corrective actions (like when consistently slicing the ball, he points out that the slices are going to the same place, showing some accuracy). He also sees when you begin overthinking things and either has you perform a different aspect of the swing, throws out a funny story. All in all, Im pleased with the decision to receive lessons from Francisco.

    Frequently asked questions

I interview my new students and ask them about their game. How many lessons have they taken? How long have they been playing? How often? How much practice time do they put into their game? What kind of scores?

I was a PGA Apprentice and learned from some of the best instructors in the business. I was recently chosen by the National Golf Foundation to help pioneer a new nationwide program designed to attract new adult golfers. I was one of six chosen to lead this program.

I do have a standard pricing system. However, because I teach on a military installation, those prices vary depending if you are military or civilian.

I have always been that person that wants to help others. I started teaching because I was inspired by my PGA Professional. He started out as my golf instructor and later became my mentor early in my career.

I have worked with all levels and ages of students. I have a strong history of working with juniors. Starting from age 7 to high school golfers who are working to take their game to the next level. In addition to private lessons, I have also worked with in a group environment.

My adviced would be to give the instructor time to help you improve. While golf is a fun sport, it is also challenging. So, give your instructor time. We can work magic but it's not an overnight thing. It takes awhile. So, be patient.

The first question that a student should ask should be directed at themselves. How committed am I going to be? How much practice am I actually going to put in? If those are first answered then, any question that you ask that instructor will and should be answered accordingly.
