Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Initial 10-15 phone or FaceTime call with prospective student to understand student's skill level and goals so that I can make a fair assessment and propose a plan to teach and achieve those goals. First lesson is offered at a special discounted rate. Subsequent lessons are available on a per lesson basis or at discounted prices for pre-paid packages.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
D1 college tennis player at Southern Methodist University under coach Dennis Ralston, who coached Chris Evert, Gaby Sabatini and Yannick Noah. Former junior state ranked player in Texas. Lettered all four years in high school playing #1 singles and doubles every year. Over 20 years' experience coaching.

1st lesson at discounted price. Subsequent lessons available at standard prices on a per lesson basis or discounted for pre-paid packages.
How did you get started teaching?
I have played tennis at a very high level since I was 12 years old. Shortly after finishing my college playing career, friends and family started to ask me to help them learn tennis and improve their games. That continued to develop over the years well into adulthood and fatherhood. I have been coaching my kids (14, 10 & 10 years old) and many of their friends for many years. My oldest will be playing on his high school tennis team as a freshman this coming year.
What types of students have you worked with?
All levels. As young as beginner (6 years old and up), intermediate/advanced high school and adults.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Conduct an interview prior to your first lesson to ensure that your learning style and your prospective coach's teaching style will be compatible. Be clear about your goals and expectations and ask your prospective coach to be honest with you in recommending a plan to meet your desired goals.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Think about your goals and willingness to put in the work to achieve those goals. Success or failure is always based on an expectation. The more realistic that your expectations are, the higher probability you will have to achieve those goals as both you and your coach will be able to better work on a plan to achieve results.
