What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Our teachers have degrees in theatre, voice, dance and more. We have been teaching for many years. We have a combined 100 years in the arts world and bring with us the ability to teach and help your student achieve!
How did you get started teaching?
We started teaching at OPPA! because we saw a lack of education in our area for the arts. We wanted to create a performing arts center where all areas of the arts could come together and learn and grow
What types of students have you worked with?
We have worked with students as young as 4 and as old as... well grandmas ;-). Many people as they get older say its to late to learn to sing or dance. Not true! We are not just for kids!
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
We love working with our kids classes and recently watched them come together to perform Annie the musical! What a fun moment to see all our kids on stage!
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Ask questions! Get to know them, are they performing as well? Do they only teach? Do they have the background that can help you gorw. Many people teach at home and thats great but do they bring with them a staff that can help you achieve your goals and take you to the next leve?
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
What is your goal? what do you want to learn? What will make you feel like you are moving forward?
