My teaching approach:
I'm currently teaching beginning guitar classes at a middle school in Crozet. I like to start with the fundamentals, then generally gear the lessons to what the student wants to learn. I also have taught group songwriting classes for four years, and can assist any students interested in developing their craft.

Students' homes in Charlottesville and surrounding areas (Ivy, Crozet, etc.)
Guitar Techniques:
Song Writing, Music Theory, Reading Music, Performance, Fingerstyle, Rhythm guitar, Lead guitar
Your first guitar lesson with me might include the following:
I talk with the student about any past musical experience they have, and then introduce the basics: tuning, string names, and basic chords to start with, in addition to reading simple guitar tablature.
A guitar lesson with me might entail the following:
Lessons begin with a refresher of what was covered the previous session. I then address any questions or issues the student has with the material and introduce any new techniques that are necessary. Lots of guided practice during our sessions.

So long as the student is enthusiastic about learning guitar and is willing to put in the effort during the week when I'm not there, I would love to teach them!
